News Operation Manager News Operation Manager WSAZ-TV in Huntington-Charleston, W.Va. seeks a News Operations Manager to help take its television and web products to the next level. Candidates for this position must be both creative and innovative in how they approach all aspects of journalism and technology. The ideal candidate will have strong sense of attention to detail and a passion for doing things the right way the first time. We are looking for an impact player who never quits, pushes the product forward, challenges others to be at the top of their game and has high expectations for himself and others to win through new media, on-air and through the people. Daily duties will include overseeing and editing content for the station’s Web site (WSAZ.com), helping the newsroom with technological advances, training users on equipment and software, developing effective workflow plans for the newsroom, writing basic news stories, and assisting with general newsroom duties. The NOM will serve as the chief technology coordinator for the station’s newsrooms in both Huntington and Charleston. Some travel between cities may be required. Requirements: • 4 years experience in a television newsroom • 2 years experience with a web content management system • Operational HTML skills. • General understanding of information technology, networks, computer hardware and Windows-based programming • Ability to write well in both broadcast and web (AP style) formats • Understanding of legalities with regard to television and online content • Ability to work in a team environment and under tight deadlines • Familiar with newsroom computer systems, especially ENPS • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems, Web site errors and software issues. • A college degree required Gray Television is an equal opportunity employer Huntington -
